Overview: A seven-session, hands-on cooking course designed for high school seniors preparing to live independently. Students will build practical kitchen skills, learn how to shop and cook on a budget, and gain confidence in feeding themselves well in college and beyond. 

Target Audience: High school seniors (ages 17–18). Dietary restriction-friendly (GF, kosher, vegetarian, etc.)

Schedule:

SPRING SESSION: Mondays 5-7:30 p.m.

Cost: $150 per session x 7 sessions plus a one-time $125 materials fee for a total of $1,175 due at time of registration. Contact Laura for alternate payment plan or to apply for limited scholarship.

About the Instructor: Laura McLively is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and an award-winning cookbook author (The Berkeley Bowl Cookbook: Original Recipes Inspired by the Extraordinary Produce of California’s Most Iconic Market, © 2018 Parallax Press) with over a decade of experience teaching cooking classes to people of all ages and backgrounds. In both her private nutrition practice and group class format, she loves helping people to foster a healthy relationship to food and to their bodies by focusing on discovery, variety, and enjoyment of the bounty we can access on any budget.
